RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS — Endothelium-dependent and C fiber– mediated SkBF, sensory symptoms, neurological deficits, nerve fiber morphometry, quantitative sensory and autonomic function testing, nerve conduction studies, quality of life (using the Norfolk Quality-of-Life Questionnaire for Diabetic Neuropathy [QOL-DN]), and adverse events were evaluated for 20 placeboand 20 ruboxistaurin-treated (32 mg/day) DPN patients (aged 18 years; with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and A1C 11%) during a randomized, doublemasked, single-site, 6-month study.

Ruboxistaurin for the Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: A Systematic Review of Randomized Clinical Trials
BACKGROUND Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. Protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor's has been thought to be a potential disease modifying drug's in DPN as it slows or reverse neuropathy's progression. To assesses the efficacy and safety of ruboxistaurin on the progression of symptoms, signs, or functional disability in DPN. METHODS A systematic rev...
متن کاملLow Dose, Short-Term Iron Supplementation in Female Blood Donors of Childbearing Age: a Randomized, Double-Masked, Placebo-Controlled Study
: Iron supplementation for blood donors is a controversial concept. However, to maintain regular blood donors, as a source of blood supply, the present paradigm is not appropriate and dose not prevent harms to blood donors. Methods: A randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled study, was conducted by enrolling 95 female regular blood donors of childbearing age (18-49 years). The participants...
متن کاملEffect of ruboxistaurin on blood-retinal barrier permeability in relation to severity of leakage in diabetic macular edema.
PURPOSE The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of orally administered ruboxistaurin (RBX, LY333531), a selective protein kinase C beta inhibitor, on the permeability of the blood-retinal barrier in patients with diabetic macular edema. METHODS Forty-one patients with diabetic macular edema were randomly assigned to an 18-month randomized, placebo-controlled, double-masked tria...

Purpose: To evaluate efficacy, safety, and causes of vision loss among 813 patients (1,392 eyes) with moderately severe to very severe nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy from the Protein Kinase C b Inhibitor-Diabetic Retinopathy Study and Protein Kinase C b Inhibitor-Diabetic Retinopathy Study 2 ruboxistaurin (RBX) protein kinase C b inhibitor trials. Methods: Patients in these 3-year, rando...
